Jon Frattasio and Peter Mayer have known each other since 1996. They met back stage at Great Woods in Mansfield at a sold-out Jimmy Buffett concert. Peter Mayer is Buffett's lead guitarist but a singer/songwriter/virtuoso guitarist at a world-class level. Pete and Jon became fast friends and kept in touch. Peter Mayer recalls their beginnings, "I met Jon at a Buffett show and recall his energy and enthusiasm regarding music and putting together some shows." Pete continues, "people say things and make promises but don't always come thru, Jon was the exact opposite. He sold out Joe's American Bar and Grille in Hanover MA twice for us, hundreds of people showed up to those two incredible gigs."
Pete's talented son, singer/songwriter/guitarist, Brendan Mayer, a BU graduate, also became fast friends with Jon over those years recalls recalls while a student in Boston, getting to perform live with Jon around town. "Jon really, is responsible for much of my early live performing. Jon had me sit in on many of his gigs in Boston, Cape Cod and around the South Shore. He gave me confidence and experience, he gave me the opportunity to get out there and just play music. We had a blast. Jon was a great friend while I was away from home in college, I could count on Jon."
Since those beginnings, Pete, Brendan and Jon have performed several sold-out shows produced by Jon from, theaters with hundreds of fans to intimate 100 only shows. Pete explains more on his relationship with Jon, "With Jon and I, there's a trust and, there's always been a connection to the music. I respect Jon as gifted and talented musician in his own right, his finger style playing is very unique." Pete sat in with Jon one labor day weekend at Cheers in Boston while Pete was in-between playing two sold-out shows at Great Woods with boss, Jimmy Buffett- the Boston Herald "Around Town" section wrote, "you never know who will show up at a Jon Frattasio gig."
