Jon Frattasio Bio

Singer, Songwriter, Acoustic Guitar

Jon Frattasio, one of nine children, an ex-starting defensive tackle and graduate of Bridgewater State College, was born in Boston. Jon has been performing as a professional musician since age 18 where he worked as a drummer in several professional groups playing rock, folk and country in the bars of eastern Massachusetts for over 6 years. It was out on these drum gigs, 3 to 5 nights a week, that Jon taught himself to play the acoustic guitar. He has been performing his original style acoustic music all over New England and beyond for more than 15 years now, playing well over 250 performances a year. Over these years, Jon has built a loyal following from the bars and shanty's of Cape Cod, to the popular venues of Boston including, the Channel, the Ratt, Bunratty's, Club III in Cambridge, the Hard Rock Caf e', Avalon, the Rack, Night Stage , the H ouse of Blues and, one of his favorite venue's, Cheers where Jon can be seen performing an over 1500 song catalog of tunes every Thursday night at 7:30pm. and hardly ever taking a break.

Jon and his band were invited by, long-time, Margaritaville Cafe' Key West, entertainment director JL Jamison, to perform at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield Massachusetts, to open up the Jimmy Buffett Labor Day weekend shows in September 2003. Jon Frattasio and his band have been regular head-liners at Jimmy Buffett's, Margaritaville Cafe' in Key West since 1999. 
 

In the past 6 years, Jon has produced some, impressive, sold-out, concerts in the area which include such venues as, the Cedar Ball Room, the Back Bay Restaurant Group Corp. and the Company Theatre in Norwell Massachusetts. These concerts include some real world class musicians such as, Nashville recording artists, Andy and Matt Thompson also, R. Scott Bryan from the Peter Mayer Group and the Sheryl Crow Band and, Jimmy Buffett Coral Reefer Band members, Roger Guth, Jim Mayer and Peter Mayer, a long-time friend. Jon has produced and performed shows with the Peter Mayer and his group in Atlanta, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Massachusetts since 1999.

Peter Mayer, Jon and, 8 time Boston Music Award winner and Jon Frattasio Band lead guitarist, Bob Doolittle, just recently performed an, amazing, listening room show, at the Wellness Center in Pembroke Massachusetts which Jon notes as one of the high lights of his performing career.

 

Jon has also performed with noted Key West singer song-writers, Scott Kirby and David Goodman in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and in Key West Florida at the famous, Hog's Breath Saloon. Jon also notes the honor of performing at the Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West and the Palace Theatre in Manchester New Hampshire with the brilliantly, talented violinist and U.S. Army Sgt., EmilyRandle.

Jon is recording original material for his new CD this year. Jon co-wrote the song, "Captured" with, Key West, singer song-writer, Scott Kirby. Jon also notes how thrilled he was to recieve the song, "Sailor" from singer song-writer great, Darrell Scott, to record on Jon's new CD. Darrell, originally from Kentucky, has New England ties with Jon's band. Darrell Scott has written hit songs for Maura O'Connell, Travis Tritt, the Dixie Chicks and Garth Brooks to name a few. 

 

Jon's new CD will have the talented sax sounds of Tony Q. from Las Vegas, the bass and guitar work of 30 year friend, Bob Doolittle, the percussion and drumming talents of R. Scott Bryan of St Louis, and from Massachusetts, Mike Cahill and Steve Oxy also band-mate, Bob Paluccio.
